Peter C. Hodgson
Eagles Mere summer resident Dr. Peter C. Hodgson is guest preacher this Sunday July 22 at 10:00AM. Dr. Hodgson taught theology courses at Vanderbilt University Divinity School in Nashville, Tennessee from 1965 until his retirement in 2003.
In 1957 as a young student, Dr. Hodgson attended a Christian conference in Eagles Mere. From that summer on, his parents paid regular visits to the Forest Inn. The family purchased a cottage in the Park in 1966 and have spent summers in Eagles Mere ever since.
Dr. Hodgson has published numerous books on Christian theology. His latest book is “Summer Sermons, Winter Thoughts. It includes a collection of sermons given at Eagles Mere Presbyterian Church over the past 15 years. It is available at Amazon along with his other books.
Dr. Hodgson’s sermon this Sunday is titled “Abba” based on Mark 14. The word “Abba” is translated as “Daddy.” Special music provided by Jessica Reese, vocalist. Our pianist is Jane Rhone. Communion will be served.
An outdoor social in the Lundy Garden after the service will feature light refreshments. Casual dress is always welcome.
