William Carter
Reverend Bill Carter serves as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, PA. Bill is also a well known jazz pianist with “Bill Carter and the Presbybop Quartet,” a traveling jazz group performing concerts around the country. Bill frequently weaves music into ministry. Combining jazz with church worship creates unique opportunities to spread the gospel while entertaining worshipers.
Presbybop is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a number of concert celebrations planned throughout the year. First started as a Labor Day weekend jazz communion in Clarks Summit, Presbybop continues to tour regularly and record new music.
A native of Owego, NY, Rev. Carter received his B.A from Binghamton University and his M. Div from Princeton Theological Seminary. Bill is the author of eight books of sermons and numerous published articles. A highly regarded speaker, teacher, and workshop leader, Bill has spoken many times on Day 1, a radio ministry that reaches two million listeners each week.
Bill’s message for us this Sunday, June 24 is “How do you keep a Sabbath?” based on Psalm 92. Bill will play “Sabbath Song” and several jazz versions of familiar hymns for the congregation to sing.
The Presbyterian Church of Eagles Mere is located at 23 Pennsylvania Avenue. Service begins at 10:00 AM and casual dress is always welcome. A social in the side garden with light refreshments will immediately follow the service. Come for a solid message of faith and great jazz music!
